I’ve seen Elizabeth’s heart spoken advice at work and have felt the sincere and heartful connection. I appreciate the reminder as I continue to navigate how to create more connections thru my writing here in Substack land. 💞
This reminds me that in the Caribbean, the polite thing to do is to start any conversation with "Good morning" (afternoon, etc.). It's actually impolite not to. We watched a lady from the States start to ask for directions without a greeting when the local slowed her down, said "Good day" to share that acknowledgement with her. It's more than manners; it's relationship-building.
I love the power of thank-you notes and the neat reactions you have gotten to the outreach. I think offering to interview someone, asking to repost something of theirs, sharing a post where you mentioned them or a testimonial, and offering to make introductions are great ice-breakers. Newsletter guru Josh Spector and others with terrific visibility will post testimonials on their sites with your URL for lasting exposure.
I love the idea of the prompt to explore some new ways to get more reach. It takes so little and means so much. It's also nice to do regular "touch-backs" to just check in and see what current connections are doing to spark some new or renewed activities: a new collaboration, a new interview, a joint webinar, or a new product.
Love this addition to the conversation, Jan. I have watched you practice these principles for years. You are always generous and thoughtful. Thank you reading and sharing your wonderful ideas.
Thank you so much for inviting me be a guest, Denise, and for your generous introduction. It’s always gratifying to find new technology tools that uncover and amplify tried-and-true values and strategies.
