Get Visible Without Burning Out
Here's how focusing on one platform can simplify your strategy, save time, and attract more clients.
What about starting 2025 with a narrow focus on your visibility efforts?
Focus on just one or two platforms to spend your time and energy on connecting and attracting your audience and new clients.
Rather than the (my) former advice of “being everywhere,” what would it look and feel like just to be exactly where your ideal audience is hanging out?
This idea has been occupying my brain cells for several weeks and it’s time to take action!
Are you game to try this experiment with me?
Why Focusing on Just One Social Media Platform Might Be Your Best Move
Let’s be honest—trying to keep up with all the social media platforms feels like a full-time job, doesn’t it? Between posting, commenting, and figuring out which trends actually matter, it’s enough to make anyone want to throw in the towel. And yes, I feel that, too.
But what if you didn’t have to be everywhere? What if focusing on just one platform could actually help you attract more clients and make your life a whole lot easier?
Pick One Platform and Go All In
That’s right. Instead of trying to juggle Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and whatever else is out there, just choose one.
Focus your energy and attention on mastering that space. For you, that might mean LinkedIn if your audience is professionals or Facebook if your ideal clients are active in groups.
The idea is simple: when you concentrate your efforts, you can do fewer things better—and that’s what gets noticed.
Here’s why this approach makes sense. When you’re trying to manage multiple platforms, your time, energy, and creativity get spread way too thin.
You end up posting just to keep up, which doesn’t exactly scream “I’m here to help you solve your problem.”
On the flip side, when you focus on one platform:
You have the time to create high-quality, engaging content that speaks directly to your ideal clients.
You can show up consistently, which builds trust (and trust is a huge factor when people decide to hire you).
You get to know the platform—what works, what doesn’t, and how to use it to your advantage.
I read somewhere that 76% of people are more likely to buy from a brand they feel connected to. Think about that.
Connection beats visibility every time, and connection happens when you show up regularly in a meaningful way.
How to Get Started
Here’s what I’d suggest to get the ball rolling:
Pick Your Platform
Think about where your ideal clients are already hanging out. LinkedIn? Instagram? Facebook? Don’t guess—ask them if you’re not sure.
Choose the one that aligns best with your business and your style. Instagram Reels or LinkedIn videos could be a good fit if you love video. Prefer writing? LinkedIn posts or articles might be better.
Do a 30-Day Experiment
Commit to focusing on just this one platform for 30 days. Not forever—just a month to test it out.
During this time, ignore the noise from other platforms. It’s like a little digital detox but with purpose.
Create a Simple Plan
Post at least once a week, but make it good. Talk about your clients’ challenges, share your expertise, or show behind-the-scenes moments.
Engage daily. Spend 10–15 minutes responding to comments and messages. Join conversations in your niche.
Track Your Results
At the end of 30 days, look at the numbers. Are you getting more engagement? More inquiries? Maybe even a new client or two?
What Else Should You Know?
Consistency Is Key: This doesn’t mean posting every day. It means showing up regularly enough that your audience remembers and sees you as a trusted resource.
It’s Not Forever: Focusing on one platform now doesn’t mean you’ll never expand later. Once you’ve nailed it here, you can branch out—but only when you’re ready.
Pay Attention to Feedback: Watch how people respond to your content. Are they commenting? Messaging you? Those are signs you’re on the right track.
Here’s my plan
I’m going to focus 30 days on LinkedIn and Substack Notes.
I know that’s two platforms, so I will repurpose Notes to LinkedIn posts because I’m also doing a 30-day Notes Challenge with paid subscribers starting on January 2.
Do as I advise, not as I do 😉
