I got a message recently from someone I’ve known for years. We’ve worked together. We’re connected on LinkedIn. They get my emails. And they asked me if I’m still doing consulting.
I had to laugh. I mean, yes. That’s what I do.
But it hit me: if they didn’t know what I was doing, what about everyone else?
It’s not that I haven’t been posting. I have. But clearly not in a way that made it obvious who I help and what I help them with.
And that’s on me.
If your clients don’t know what you do, or worse, forgot, it’s usually not about effort. You could be creating all the content in the world and still be invisible to the people you’re trying to help.
So what do you do about it?
You reintroduce yourself.
And not with your full bio or resume. Just a simple, clear post that says:
Here’s who I help
Here’s what they’re dealing with
Here’s how I help them fix it
No BS. No long story. Just clarity.
Here’s why this matters
People follow you because they think you can help them. But if they don’t know what you do, they scroll right past.
Sprout Social ran a study that found 65% of people follow brands because the content shows them how the business can help. Source.
But most of us are posting like everyone already knows us. They don’t.
So say it again. Say it often. Keep it simple.
You could post something like this:
I work with solo business owners who are buried in to-dos and don’t have time to market themselves.
Most of them feel invisible, even though they’re great at what they do.
I help them build a simple visibility system that attracts clients without burning them out.
Then add something like, “Curious how that works? Send me a DM.”
That’s it. Doesn’t need to be fancy.
Here’s an AI prompt that’ll help
If you want a little help writing it, try this:
Write a short LinkedIn post that reintroduces me to my audience. I work with [describe your ideal client], who [describe the main problem they face]. I help them [describe your result]. Make the tone friendly, clear, and confident. Add a casual invitation at the end like “Let’s connect” or “Curious? Drop me a DM.”
Try it. Edit it. Post it. Today.
